Port Arthur is a living breathing fishing port offering a deep harbour and shelter at the mouth of the eastern seaboard. Vast cliffs dropping into turbulent ocean wrap all the way west to Cape Raoul. For generations Peninsular families have held the rights to fish for cray abalone braving the deep cold Southern Ocean all the way down past Maatsuyker Island. If you are looking for an escape from the pressures of modern society you might think about applying for the job of caretaker on these isolated Southern islands.

In this painting a sailor gently smokes a pipe, perfectly at home with the groundless ground of the ocean. A boat in full sail represents leaving the past behind and moving forward with certainty. The seagull taking flight expresses the feeling of freedom and certainty when the wind catches the sails and we have the courage to commit to our heart’s true calling.

This is a limited edition print made onto rich heavy and textured cotton rag paper (limited to 100)

Large measures 13" x 19" (A3Plus) and Small measures 8.27" x 11.29" (A4). Each print is made from a high resolution image of the original painting and the image is as large as will fit comfortably with a border for framing.
